The Tiny Theater is back this summer at the Big Sky Farmer’s Market. It all started with a 14’ cargo trailer and a couple of theater-makers who knew nothing about trailer brakes. Conceived in partnership between the Warren Miller Performing Arts Center and Nervous Theatre, The Tiny Theater is the newest experiment in putting theater on wheels and bringing it to where folks are. The 2025 season is in partnership with 406Cirque, directed by Isabel Shaida and Naomi Shafer.
An ancient concept (i.e. medieval strolling players) modernized for today’s mountain audiences, the Tiny Theater is entering its third summer with a fully operational stage featuring two performers each week, putting on tiny plays in rotation throughout the market. Powered by a multitude of rechargeable lithium batteries and solar panels, the Tiny Theater functions off the grid.
Audiences can enjoy a new stage this summer with performances that last between 7 -10 minutes in any iteration weekly at the Big Sky Farmers market. Stay for one minute or eleven; there is a tiny storyline for everybody. In addition to the novel visual spectacle, patrons also enjoy the tiny play through headphones to simulate a truly dynamic theatre experience without disrupting neighboring vendors and other performers at the market.
