Feast Whitefish: Savoring an eclectic culinary scene

Whitefish hosts an explosion of flavors and food events May 12-20

New & Notable

Feast Whitefish returns this May with nine days (and nights) of food and drink events that highlight the very best that local dining scene has to offer … and then some!

Feast Whitefish Distillers' Fest
The Feast kicks off Friday, May 12, with the Distillers’ Fest, along the 18th fairway at Grouse Mountain Lodge.

The Feast kicks off Friday, May 12, with the Distiller’s Fest, along the 18th fairway at Grouse Mountain Lodge. The cocktail party blends spirits from a dozen of Montana’s best micro-distilleries, including Montana-made whiskies, vodkas, tequilas, designer cocktails and more, with all-star appetizers from top Whitefish restaurants and caterers ($30).

Northwest Montana’s top grill-masters go head-to-head at Grills Gone Wild!, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, May 13, on the lawn at Piggyback BBQ. Attendees and judges sample grilled specialties – beef, pork, chicken, fish, veggies, pizza … anything goes! – accompanied by an assortment of microbrews and live music ($30).

Experience the community’s eclectic culinary culture during Restaurant Week, May 15-19. During the five-day affair, locally owned-and-operated restaurants offer incentives for patrons to revisit their favorite restaurants and experience new ones by offering special, fixed-price menus.

The focus shifts to burgers and beer May 19 during the Great Bonzai Burger Battle, 5:30-8 p.m. at Bonsai Brewing Project’s outdoor beer garden. Local restaurants and bars try to dazzle the crowd and judges with their take on the ultimate burger, and compete for the title of Burger-Meister of Big Sky Country. Enjoy a side of Bonsai brews and live music ($30).

The festival concludes from 6-10 p.m. May 20 with the Grand Gala at Café Kandahar at Whitefish Mountain Resort; a half-dozen local chefs collaborate on this one-of-a-kind dining experience – a gourmet six-course dinner, paired with award-winning wines from around the world ($125).

“It’s physically impossible to savor all that the Whitefish culinary scene has to offer in just a few days’ time,” said Whitefish Chamber director Kevin Gartland. “But if you’re dying to try, Feast Whitefish is just the ticket!”
