“Art in the Beartooths is a milestone event for us and we are honored to showcase the works and talents of our local and regional artists in this signature fundraiser for the Carbon County Arts Guild & Depot Gallery,” says Executive Director Kim Kapalka.

The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Red Lodge Mountain Golf Course clubhouse and includes a quick-finish, live auction, food, complimentary drinks, music, and a full cash bar. Tickets are $65 and attendance is limited to 125.

Starting at 10 a.m. guests will have the opportunity to watch and mingle with the 20 artists selected to participate in the event. Artists will have two hours to finish a piece that will then be framed and auctioned off at 12:45 p.m., courtesy of auctioneer Quinn Donovan, owner/manager of First Montana Title.

“Arrive early and witness the pieces come to life right before your eyes,” says Kapalka.

This annual event recognizes the talents of local and regional artists; creates an economic impact in the city of Red Lodge and beyond; builds community, awareness and enjoyment for the arts; and honors the legacy of those who established this tradition of artistic excellence in the Beartooths, while reflecting a strong tradition of sharing artistic talents across the region.

“This 50th anniversary celebration of Art in the Beartooths is a prime example of revitalization in and of itself – especially after the pandemic,” says Kapalka. “The tradition is holding strong and we’re proud to showcase our artists.”

The Quick Finish and Live Auction will feature work by renowned local and regional artists including: Ty Barhaug, Maggie Bassett, Sonja Caywood, Battista Eaton, Elliott Eaton, Thomas English, Bonnie Zahn Griffith, Terry C. Hall, Brenna Kimbro, Michael Kosorok, Elizabeth LaRowe, Diana Mysse, Dominique Paulus, John Potter, Cliff Rossberg, Marcia Selsor, Lee Walker, Shirle Wempner, Tom Wolfe, and Dana Zier.

In conjunction with the Quick Finish and Live Auction is the Art in the Beartooths silent auction, on display through July 10 at Depot Gallery. The online auction includes more than 70 pieces of art from local and regional artists. Bidding for the work closes at 8 p.m. on July 10.

The Carbon County Arts Guild & Depot Gallery is located at 11 West 8th Street in Red Lodge, and is open 10 a.m.to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 12-4 p.m. Sunday and Monday.

This event and exhibition are organized by the Carbon County Arts Guild & Depot Gallery which is supported in part by grants from the Montana Arts Council, the Coal Tax Trust Fund for Cultural and Aesthetic Projects, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
