HandMADE Montana is closing the chapter on a milestone year while setting its sights on an ambitious and expansive 2026 season—one that continues to strengthen Montana’s creative economy, elevate artists, and share the deeper stories behind the state’s handmade movement.

In 2025, more than 600 artists participated across handMADE Montana’s juried MADE fairs, year-round retail store, and the Flathead Cherry Festival. Together, these programs generated an estimated $2 million-plus in revenue for artists and small creative businesses, underscoring the organization’s role as a significant economic driver for Montana’s arts and maker community. Beyond economic impact, handMADE Montana raised $31,500 for Montana nonprofits through VIP ticket sales and community partnerships and donated more than 3,000 pounds of food to local food banks.

“Every year we’re reminded that these events are about so much more than shopping,” said founder Carol Lynn Lapotka. “They’re about supporting artists at every stage, keeping creative dollars in our communities, and creating meaningful connections between makers and the people who value handmade work.”

The Flathead Cherry Festival in Polson reached its largest attendance to date in 2025, boosted by favorable weather and a strong cherry harvest. A major tourism draw, the festival continues to deliver meaningful economic benefits to the region. In partnership with the Polson Chamber of Commerce, handMADE Montana also launched the Cherry-Picked Culinary Experience, spotlighting local restaurants and businesses through cherry-inspired offerings—an initiative set to grow in future years.

HandMADE Montana is also producing an independent documentary, MADE: The Hands Behind Montana’s Creative Movement (working title). Filming began in 2025 and will continue through 2026, following a small group of Montana artists through studio life, event preparation, and MADE fair weekends. Produced with Soul Craft Media, the 45-minute film explores creativity, economic impact, and community, preserving the stories behind Montana’s handmade economy.

Looking ahead, the 2026 season includes events in Bozeman, Missoula, Polson, and Helena, with applications opening January 15 for spring and summer shows. As competitive, juried events, MADE fairs remain committed to showcasing thoughtfully designed, handcrafted work and strong representation of Montana artists.

HandMADE Montana continues to build momentum as a cornerstone organization—one with growing reach, deeper storytelling, and a lasting impact on the state’s creative community.
