Miles City Bluegrass and Pie Festival
Held in the heart of Southeastern Montana, this beloved festival is a celebration where the rich sounds of bluegrass music meet the irresistible allure of homemade pie and hearty comfort food.
Since its founding in 1998, the Miles City Bluegrass and Pie Festival has become a treasured annual event, renowned for its vibrant atmosphere and exceptional offerings. Lovingly dubbed the “Miles City Bluegrass and Pie Festival,” it nods to the standout features: an extraordinary array of bluegrass music and a food court that serves up homemade pies and comfort food every third full weekend of September.

The food court offers above and beyond the standard festival fare. From hearty savory comfort food to indulgent sweet treats, the homemade pies are a fan favorite; each slice a testament to the culinary traditions and incredible creativity of Miles City’s local bakers.
The mainstay of the music festival is all about celebrating the rich traditions of bluegrass music. Proudly showcasing a diverse lineup of talented musicians, they range from beloved bluegrass legends to rising stars. Seasoned fans and those new to the genre will find plenty to enjoy. The stage comes alive with the sounds of banjos, fiddles, and soulful harmonies. Headliners include Nick Dumas and Branchline, The Waddington Brothers, High Plains Tradition, Song Dog Serenade, Figuring It Out and Release the Squirrels.

Located at the Eastern Montana Fairgrounds in Miles City, the festival kicks off Friday September 19 at 5 p.m. with an Open Stage on which everyone is welcome to play. For those who love to jam, there is an after hours Open Jam Friday and Saturday after the last band plays. A Sunday morning workshop offers tips and tricks from band members. The festival winds down Sunday around 6 p.m. Tickets are available at the door.
