Garrison Keillor and Prairie Home Companion
As America prepares to celebrate its 250th birthday, legendary storyteller Garrison Keillor is bringing the warmth, humor, and music of A Prairie Home Companion back to the stage with the “America the Beautiful Tour”. The only inland northwest stop will be at Spokane’s historic Fox Theater, May 30th at 7:30 p.m. Fans can expect an unforgettable evening of storytelling, live music, comedy, and nostalgia performed by some of the most beloved voices and musicians associated with the iconic radio show.
For more than four decades, A Prairie Home Companion captured the spirit of small-town America through folk music, humorous sketches, and Keillor’s celebrated “News from Lake Wobegon” monologues. The nationally syndicated program became a treasured American institution, drawing millions of listeners each week with its blend of heartfelt storytelling and live performance.

Joining Keillor onstage is an exceptional cast of longtime collaborators who help recreate the magic of the original broadcasts. Vocalist Heather Masse, known for her rich jazz and folk influences as a member of the Wailin’ Jennys, brings stunning harmonies and emotional depth to the evening’s musical performances. Singer Christine DiGiallonardo adds warmth and versatility with her soaring vocals and engaging stage presence. Together, the pair deliver the sweet harmonies that have long been a hallmark of Prairie Home performances.
The tour also features legendary sound-effects artist Fred Newman, whose live audio wizardry has amazed audiences for decades. From footsteps and thunderstorms to comic soundscapes, Newman’s inventive effects create the unmistakable atmosphere of live radio theater. Music director Rich Dworsky and the Guy’s All-Star Shoe Band round out the cast with lively arrangements and masterful musicianship that blend folk, jazz, blues, and classic Americana.
Audiences can also look forward to audience singalongs, witty sketches, and Keillor’s signature reflections on everyday American life — stories filled with gentle humor, humanity, and Midwestern charm.
Set within the beautifully restored Fox Theater, this special evening promises to celebrate the enduring traditions of storytelling, music, and community that made A Prairie Home Companion a beloved part of American culture.
