Bigfork Summer Playhouse
Bigfork Summer Playhouse is celebrating 67 seasons of professional theater with a 2026 lineup filled with rousing music, broad comedy, heartfelt stories and Broadway-sized energy all summer long. Known as “theatre by the bay,” the company again brings performers from across the country to Bigfork for a summer of rotating repertory productions.
The season opens the door to turn-of-the-century New York with Disney’s Newsies. Led by determined newspaper seller Jack Kelly, the newsies unite against publisher Joseph Pulitzer after he raises their costs. Songs such as “Seize the Day,” “Santa Fe” and “The World Will Know” help turn their struggle into an uplifting celebration of courage, friendship and solidarity.
Audiences looking for laughs can step into the laboratory for Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein. The PG-13 musical follows Frederick Frankenstein as he inherits his family’s Transylvanian castle and reluctantly revisits his grandfather’s experiments. With Igor, Inga, Frau Blucher and one misunderstood monster along for the ride, the show promises outrageous comedy, romance and plenty of madcap surprises.
Two familiar favorites round out the repertory season. The Music Man brings River City to life with the story of charming con man Harold Hill and skeptical librarian Marian Paroo. Its beloved score includes “76 Trombones,” “Ya Got Trouble” and “Wells Fargo Wagon.” Mean Girls adds a sharp, contemporary edge as newcomer Cady Heron navigates the Plastics, the Burn Book and the pressure to trade authenticity for popularity.
The company will also present its one-night-only Benefit Revue at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 26. The scholarship fundraiser features songs and production numbers performed by company members, followed by a champagne meet-and-greet. Proceeds support education in the arts.
The summer continues into early September with Hits From the ’50s, ’60s, ’70s & ’80s. Performances run August 27–30 and September 3–5 at 7:30 p.m., featuring a fresh lineup of favorites associated with Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Billy Joel, Elton John, Cyndi Lauper and more.
