Cora Mandera and Lucas Marra in The Nutcracker
Queen City Ballet’s Nutcracker returns to the Helena Civic Center November 21–22, 2026, celebrating 25 years of holiday memories. Presented by Bravera Bank, this anniversary production invites audiences to enjoy a classical ballet tradition that connects generations of Montana families.
Dancing snowflakes, battling soldiers, the menacing Rat King and the Sugar Plum Fairy fill the stage with adventure. Meanwhile, lavish professional sets and costumes bring the beloved holiday story to life. The production pairs classical choreography with storytelling that welcomes both longtime ballet fans and newcomers.
A Celebration Across Generations
This year, Queen City Ballet Company dancers and students will perform alongside professional guest artists and three returning company alumni. Their homecoming gives the anniversary meaning, linking dancers who grew up with the production to those stepping onstage today.

Artistic Director Campbell Midgley sees that shared stage as a celebration of the community behind the company. For a quarter century, dancers, families and supporters have helped sustain this Helena holiday tradition.
Founded in 1999, Queen City Ballet Company became a nonprofit in 2008. Today, it nurtures young artists through classical and contemporary dance, professional-quality performances, educational programs and outreach across Montana.
Ballet Opens Doors for Students
Before the public performances, Montana students and teachers can attend a special educational outreach performance Friday morning, November 20. Pioneer Technical Services, MacKay, Tappan Law Firm, and Stockman Bank present the program.
Their support helps offset transportation costs for participating schools. Students will also hear a preshow introduction from Midgley, ask questions during intermission and meet performers afterward. For many, the visit offers a first experience with live ballet in a theater.
