Chris Isaak: Wide ranging musicality

Chris Isaak arrives on the ABT stage at 7:30 p.m. July 31; tickets are $45-$75, and go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday, May 14.

In the course of Isaak’s career, he has released nine albums, twelve singles, been nominated for two Grammy awards, acted in several motion pictures and starred in his own critically acclaimed TV series. His legendary concerts with his longtime band Silvertone have entertained tens of thousands of people for over two decades. Even his hair has its own fan club.

“I’ve never tried to jump on a trend, and I’ve never had to jump off of one,” says Isaak, whose range of musicality extends from the rockabilly rebel reflected in his hit “Baby Did A Bad, Bad Thing,” to the brokenhearted crooner of “Wicked Game,” to the breezy acoustic storyteller in “San Francisco Days.”

Straight No Chaser returns to ABT

Acclaimed a cappella group Straight No Chaser returns to the ABT stage on Thursday, Nov. 1, with its One Shot Tour. Tickets start at $39 and went on sale Friday, May 11.

“This concert announcement gives a peek at the Alberta Bair Theater’s upcoming 2018-19 Season,” said programming director Jody Grant. “We’re excited to welcome Straight No Chaser back to our stage. The show nearly sold out in 2013 so we’re urging fans to get their tickets early.”

The upcoming tour, which kicks off Sept. 12 in Helsinki, Finland, coincides with the 10th Anniversary of the band signing with Atlantic Records and the release of its debut album, Holiday Spirits. A video of the group performing “12 Days of Christmas” went viral, becoming the most viewed video of 2007 on YouTube.

Now, 10 years later, and with six full-length albums and four EPs under their belt, the group will hit the road to celebrate. Additionally, Straight No Chaser is working on new music, with details to come over the next few months.
