Bozeman Symphonic Choir: The Stones Sang

Choir concert to feature animated artwork by Bryan Schaeffer April 4-5

On Stage

Experience an extraordinary fusion of song and art as the Bozeman Symphonic Choir presents The Stones Sang: Celebrating the Land, April 4-5 at Hope Lutheran Church Bozeman. This unique concert features the premiere of animated artwork by Bozeman-based author, illustrator and animator Bryan Schaeffer.

The immersive performance, conducted by interim Symphonic Choir director Dr. Maren Haynes Marchesini, celebrates nature through a diverse program of choral music and mesmerizing visual storytelling.

The choir and members of the Bozeman Symphony strings section will perform Gjeilo’s emotive Sunrise Mass, a luminous and transcendent four-movement work that soars through soundscapes of wonder and imagination. The program also includes Gimon’s passionate Fire, Palestrina’s radiant Dies Sanctificatus, Balfour & Campbell’s evocative Ambe, and Wyers’ beautifully introspective The Waking.

Adding a captivating visual element, Schaeffer’s animated short films – inspired by his illustrated guidebook The Last Best Trails: 100 Classic SW Montana Trails to Hike, Bike, and Ski in the Bozone – will debut as part of this special performance. His work brings Montana’s landscapes to life in a stunning blend of artistry and storytelling, with a foundation of deep experience and adventure in the outdoors.

Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 4, and 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 5. Tickets start at $20 and are available online or by calling 406-585-9774. Discounted student tickets are available, and limited tickets may be available at the door.

The Bozeman Symphony’s season continues with Pictures at an Expedition, Dana Dominguez on marimba, April 26-27 at Willson Auditorium; and wraps up May 17-18 with A Spiritual Awakening, featuring the orchestra and Symphonic Choir.
