Acting the Song

With Emma Rathe. In this class, participants will learn how to make strong acting choices while singing any song they choose. It doesn’t matter if one is just starting out or if they have been in the theater world for a while, this class will help anyone willing to come play. Acting the Song is geared towards connecting the presentation and meaning of the song to the life of the character and world the song puts one in. The class will work on storytelling through song, singing without fear of sounding perfect, and finding ways to connect to the song and ground oneself in it. Participants will work on specificity with text, spend time working with acting technique, then once confident in the story, work on some vocal technique to complete the piece. The course will end using a piece to focus on audition prep/self-tape techniques.
