Festival Amadeus, celebrating its 15th season, is Montana’s only week-long summer classical music festival, centered in the scenic resort town of Whitefish.
The festival opens Tuesday with Night Bird and Prague, featruing erhu virtuoso Song Yun in two new works, plus Motart’s Prague Symphony. Wednesday’s chamber concert, Cultural Crossings, includes Water Dragon Tune, which sets Chinese nature poems, with projections and narrator.
The orchestra returns Thursday with works by Mozart, Haydn and contemporary composer Rita Ueda.
Due Virtuosi, on Friday, features works for cello and piano performed by Robert deMaine and Peter Takacs.
Takacs returns Saturday for Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 and Schumann’s Symphony No. 4.
Sunday’s Festival Finale features deMaine in works by Maesto John Zolteka and Beethoven.
