Introduction to Stage Combat

Participants join Montana Shakespeare in the Parks Fight Director Andrew Rathgeber for this stage combat crash course. In this four-week workshop, students will get an opportunity to train in three different styles of Stage Combat.
Built on the foundation of competitive fencing techniques, and spiced with the flair of old-time Hollywood Swashbuckling, Single Sword is filled with fun, flash, and panache.
Also explored will be the other end of the spectrum to hone in on the basics of staging a Knife fight one of the most common forms of violence found in modern drama. Quick, dirty, and intimate With so many knife fighting techniques around the world, this class will look at a multitude of different options for telling the story of the fight and how to tell it safely and effectively. All of this will be built on the foundational techniques of Unarmed fighting punches, slaps, falls, grappling, and so much more. Ends in a showcase.
