Pinning Workshop: Butterflies & Moths

Sep 16 - Nov 19

The Butterfly House’s very own Museum Interpreter and Naturalist, Madeline Kleeman, will lead this exciting introductory workshop into the world of insect pinning. Learn how to prepare insects for pinning, pin 2-3 specimens from the collection, and leave with instructions on some of the different ways to mount your specimens when they are dry. Each participant will leave with the specimens that they pinned, including at least one butterfly/moth and one small insect, such as a beetle or bee.
Please note: Pinning includes using sharp pins and working with delicate species, so attention to detail, manual dexterity, and patience are required. All tools provided.
