Summer Art Camps: Tricks Of The Trade

Jul 7 - Jul 11

Children ages 6-9.
Make artwork using techniques from exceptional artists.
Make a trompe l’oeil (a visual illusion in art) meal to fool friends, an impossible hanging sculpture, and a picture made entirely of dots. Learn the art processes of some of the great artists of our time. Get inspired by the artwork on display at the Missoula Art Museum. Students will gain an overview of techniques in many materials including paint, collage, clay and wire sculpture, as well as a familiarity with many artists, historical and contemporary.
The teacher, Donna Flanery, is a teaching artist located in Missoula. She has an MFA from The University of Florida 2013 and a BFA from The University of Montana 2005. Her artwork has taken her to residencies in Germany, China, Minnesota and Helena. Her playful painted pottery encourages light-heartedness in a world full of serious problems. Donna's works promote a joy-filled, tender approach to living. Her artistic endeavors are bolstered by her family, love of teaching children, and time spent in nature.
