At Words with Wings Summer Camp, kids entering grades 3-8 spend their days immersed in writing activities under the guidance of a skilled instructor. In the mornings, young writers are broken into smaller groups by age (3-4, 5-6, and 7-8) so they can tackle creative writing and poetry projects designed just for them. In the afternoons, campers take their notebooks outside and find inspiration on field trips around Missoula and on the University of Montana campus.
The week culminates in an outdoor poetry reading on campus on Friday at noon and friends and families are invited to join to hear a taste of what campers have written over the course of the week.
In September, each student will receive a copy of the Words With Wings anthology (with their own writing inside) and have the chance to read their poetry at a public reading at the Missoula Public Library.
