Just when Broadway thought it was safe from the poison pen of funnyman Gerard Alessandrini, “Forbidden Broadway” returns, sharper and more hilarious than ever!

Targets include “Pippin,” “Kinky Boots,” “Les Miz,” and “Matilda,” in addition to favorites including “Wicked” and “The Book of Mormon.”  The fall-down funny musical roast of Broadway – earning nine Drama Desk Awards, an Obie, a Lucille Lortel and Drama League Award – features outrageous costumes, hilarious rewrites of the songs you know, and dead-on impressions by a stellar cast!

Introduced by frustrated performer Alessandrini in 1982, “the annual revue is built out of cheap tat, tinsel and a go-for-the-jugular irreverence toward current stage trends,” writes the Hollywood Reporter. It earned a Special Tony Award for Excellence in the Theatre in 2006, “suggesting that the Broadway community can take a joke – even those jokes not exactly intended in the spirit of kindness.”
