The Missoula Symphony presents Dynamic Trio for their next masterworks concert of the season March 4-5. Special guest artists perform Concerto for Violin, Percussion Duo and Orchestra – an innovative piece written by the symphony’s very first composer-in-residence, Pascal Le Boeuf.
Le Boeuf is a Grammy-nominated jazz pianist and electronic artist, known for his groundbreaking modern arrangements. His style ranges from unique improvisations to hybridized notation-based chamber music with production-based technology. His work is described as “sleek, new” and “hyper-fluent” by the New York Times.
The upcoming triple concerto will also feature award-winning guest artists – violinist Tim Fain, lauded by The New York Times for “technical finesse, lyrical ardor and cagey control,” Arx Duo co-founder and percussionist Garrett Arney, and percussionist Chris Whyte.
The Missoula Symphony concert opens with Fanfare Ritmico, an energetic arrangement written by Pulitzer and Grammy awards-winning composer Jennifer Higdon. The momentum of Ritmico gives way into Le Boeuf’s Concerto for Violin, Percussion Duo and Orchestra, written specifically for Barbora Kolářová, recognized as one of the foremost young violinists to emerge from the Czech Republic, and Arx Duo, and inspired by new beginnings, adapting to change and creating stability in a chaotic environment.
The concert ends with Gustav Mahler’s magnificent Symphony No. 1, Titan.
Join the Missoula Symphony for this highly anticipated concert at the Dennison Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 4, and 3 p.m. Sunday, March 5. Dynamic Trio is sponsored by First Interstate Bank and D.A. Davidson & Co., while the full 2022-2023 season is sponsored by the Good Food Store. Concert streaming is sponsored by First Security Bank.
